This is an image of an oil painting that I did as a commission for a cousin. Our parents grew up on the west coast of Ireland in an area called Connemara. It's a region that's known for its wild, untamed beauty and rich Irish heritage. This painting depicts the vista that greets adventurous climbers of a mountain called Errisbeg that looks down on a peninsula that juts out into the sea near Roundstone. This unique landmass contains two sheltered white-sand beaches, Gurteen Beach and Dog's Bay Beach. Scattered on the hillside above the peninsula are camping facilities, B&B cottages, and Gurteen Cemetary, where our grandparents and other relatives are buried.
